The Start of the Journey
A little back story on how I came to open an online store on my own.
I opened an Etsy shop in February of 2024, it took off within the first few months. There was a lot of blood, sweat, cursing, and frustration involved, but it took off. I was able to communicate with so many people and create amazing designs with their help!
2024 was an eye-opening experience! It showed me that I could actually do this. Not just another "Lacy craft" that I start and stopped because I got bored, but an actual company that I could run and be closer to my family. Towards the end of 2024, sales were reaching an obscene number that I had only dreamed about! I was able to pay off all debt the company had throughout the year and give myself a chance going into 2025 on a good foot. I even said to my husband "I am going to miss it being this busy after the Christmas rush".
Starting 2025 off, my shop was closed down and I was left trying to build something from the ground up. I won't go into details as to why it was closed, but I will say I made a mistake in uploading something. I don't necessarily agree that they will not reinstate, but I also understand I made a mistake. A mistake that literally took my business down! I went from $10K in sales a month to $25. it was rather humbling and a slap in my face! But again, I made the mistake.
I went through all of the normal emotions of losing something you built, but what got me was my son. My 8-year-old son, who fought beside me countless nights building the company and running all of the items for others, was completely broken. He cried. He didn't understand, he went through more emotions than a child should go through, especially given he is 8 and it's a business his mom started in the barn. But nonetheless, that gave me the can-do attitude that God planned to slow me down and make me build something better!
I am not a tech savvy person, so building a website as come with amazing frustration! But I do believe in the products I sell, I believe in the designs I create, and I believe that there is a higher power pushing me to do this.
If you got this far, thank you! Thank you and continue following as I document my journey with this new online platform!
